How does this work?

The Fohhn Beam Steering Technology comprises speaker, amplifier and DSP technology, as well as control software and network technology. These components are an integral part of the products from our Focus series.

Beam steering is based on the principle of overlaying the wave fields of a large number of individual speakers (so-called wave field synthesis). 

Each separate speaker has its own amplifier channel and receives an individually calculated signal. All speaker drivers that are close together work in concert and form the desired sound beam according to the settings in the software.

Fohhn Two Beam Steering

A special feature of the Fohhn Beam Steering Technology is the possibility to generate and control two independent beams simultaneously. The acoustic centre of both beams can then be moved continuously over the entire line length.

Fohhn's Two Beam Steering technology, for example, enables independent sound distribution in the case of parquet floors and galleries, without reflections from the railings.

In all line array systems, there are undesired interferences in the vertical axis – also called side lobes. Fohhn has developed a special optimised algorithm that effectively suppresses these unwanted reflections and thus significantly reduces them.

This also improves sound, speech clarity and feedback prevention.
