Since its foundation in 1971, Fachhochschule Bielefeld has become one of Germany’s oldest technical universities. In addition to the main campus, a second site was established at the same time in Minden. In 2010, a third campus in Gütersloh also became part of the university.

Today, Fachhochschule Bielefeld has around 9800 students who are taught by a staff of 245. The range of studies includes 35 Bachelor- and 13 Masters’ degrees – as well as two certificate courses – spread over five faculties.

This year, the university has acquired new sound systems: 14 lecture theatres have been equipped with 5.1 surround sound systems, while in the main auditorium and a conference room, 7.1 systems have been installed. The “Drama Laboratory” has also been equipped with new loudspeakers. All of which are from Fohhn!

High performance Linea LX-601 line source loudspeakers have been installed in the main hall at each side of the podium. These are particularly suited to the reproduction of speech and music in larger halls. A compact PT-6 full range system is used here as a central loudspeaker. For the surround sound, two Arc-Series AT-09 loudspeakers have been installed, with two Linea LX-150 systems used for rear coverage. Two DSP-controlled D-4.1200 amplifiers are used to drive the loudspeakers. For low frequency sound reproduction, two passive XS-30 subwoofers from Fohhn’s X-Series have been installed.

Each of the 14 lecture theatres has been equipped with Linea AL-100 systems, placed front left and right. Three AT-09 systems also serve here as centre and rear loudspeakers, with an XS-30 subwoofer completing the setup.

In the conference room, LX-150 systems have been installed at the front of the room, with five AT-09 systems functioning as centre, surround and rear speakers. The whole system is driven by two D-4.1200 DSP amplifiers. An XS-30 subwoofer is also used here for low frequency coverage.

The Drama Laboratory's new sound system consists of six LX-150 loudspeakers, driven by a single D-4.1200 amplifier.
