For over 66 years, the Lake Constance Festival has been regularly held in August - at the same time as "Fantastical" in the neighbouring Swiss municipality of Kreuzlingen. The largest festival on Lake Constance attracts up to 50,000 visitors each year and is usually held around the Stadtgarten, Seestraße, Hafenstraße and Klein Venedig areas. The event includes all kinds of live music (from rock and pop to techno and hip-hop), comedy, cabaret, gastronomy and much more. The highlight of this “lake night festival” is the closing fireworks display – one of the largest of its kind.
This summer’s festival (consisting of the three-day Stadtgartenfest and the Seenachtsfest itself) was organised by the Stuttgart communications agency Full Moon. Technical implementation of the festival, with its five stages, was the responsibility of Constance-based J & C Event Technology.
The Sparda Festival Stage – the main stage on the Klein Venedig festival site, not far from the SEA LIFE Aquarium – was supervised by AMS Alpha Media Solutions GmbH from Hechingen. The line-up at this venue included Austrian dialect band Granada, the indie rocker Kytes from Munich, A Tale of Golden Keys from Nuremberg and the Swiss Palko! Muski.
The stage was equipped with Fohhn’s new comprehensive sound system. For the main PA, Focus Venue line arrays were flown either side of the stage. In each case, three stacked FV-100 high frequency modules were suspended next to four stacked FV-200 low-mid modules and centrally aligned in order to achieve an acoustic centre at the same height. In front of the stage, 18 PS-850 high performance subwoofers were arranged as six triple stacks, in cardioid mode. On top of the outer two stacks, two PT-70 full-range systems (with 60° horn) served as near- and outfills. Ten DI-2.2000 high performance amplifiers were used to power the subwoofers.
On each side of the stage, a PT-70 was placed on top of a PS-850 to create side fills. In addition, nine XM-4 wedges were used as stage monitors, while two XT-5 systems were used for emergency evacuation and other important announcements. Five DI-4.1000 amplifiers completed the setup.
All in all, the system was well received. Jan Kerschner, music producer and operator of Ghost City Recordings was there with the band A Tale of Golden Keys. He underlined, as an example, the “… added value of simply being able to bring along a finished show, pull up the faders and have it sound great …”
Congratulations to all participating companies on the successful implementation and thank you for using our loudspeaker systems.
