Swiss Baroque Meets Swabian Sound Reinforcement

Linea Focus and Linea LX systems are installed in the church of St. Peter and Paul in Küssnacht am Rigi, Switzerland.

As well as the Hohle Gasse – made famous through the legend of William Tell – the catholic parish church of St. Peter and Paul is also considered a place to visit in the Swiss municipality of Küssnacht am Rigi. The Baroque church, which dates from the 18th century, was renovated both outside and inside at the end of the 1990s.

In 2018, St. Peter and Paul gained a new sound system, which, in this large reverberant church, guarantees high levels of speech intelligibility. The system was planned and installed by Auviso AG. Calibration of the system, along with other planning, was done by engineering firm Imhof Akustik AG.

The comprehensive new system comprises various Fohhn loudspeakers: Two Linea Focus LFI-350s form the main PA. The 3.50 m high, white Beam Steering systems have been installed to the left and right of the steps separating the main nave from the choir. Their beam radiation has been configured in such a way as to avoid unwanted reflections from walls or floors. Two Linea LX-100 systems serve as delay lines. A further four LX-100s are used for coverage of the gallery. For sound reinforcement in the choir area, two LX-10 compact loudspeakers have been deployed. A Fohhn D-4.750 DSP-controlled CLASS D amplifier is used to drive the passive Linea LX loudspeaker systems.

Congratulations to Auviso AG, Imhof Akustik AG and Sennheiser (Schweiz) AG on this installation project.
