MSC Seaside

Following on from the MSC Meraviglia, the end of 2017 marked the launch of the next MSC luxury liner with Fohhn sound reinforcement systems. The MSC Seaside was constructed in the shipyard at Monfalcone by Europe’s largest shipbuilder, the Italian company Fincantieri. Accommodating up to 5300 passengers, MSC Seaside is, to date, the largest cruise ship to have been built in Italy.

MSC Seaside is the first ship in the company’s identically named “Seaside” class and is designed as a “ship that follows the sun”. In other words: It will be used, along with its sister ships, in warmer regions such as the Caribbean or the Mediterranean. Accordingly, the ship offers over 13,000 square metres of outdoor space.

Like the MSC Meraviglia, the Seaside also offers extensive entertainment options. Alongside swimming pools and a water park are, among other things, an onboard theatre with 934 seats and a casino. For all the various applications and onboard locations, cutting edge professional sound reinforcement systems were required. Once again, the choice came down to loudspeaker systems from Fohhn, with the South German manufacturer offering the perfect portfolio for state-of-the-art onboard sound.

Hence, Fohhn’s Italian distribution partner Kennell Digital Distribution delivered more than 2,000 speaker systems to MSC Cruises: for example, flat and extremely compact ceiling speakers, weatherproof AT-221w full-range systems for the outdoor pool areas, Focus line source speakers with Fohhn Beam Steering technology for the “Metropolitan Theatre” as well as elegant Linea LX-150 line source speakers, AS-10 und AS-21 subwoofers for the impressive atrium.

Congratulations on this great installation!
