Bodenseeforum, Constance (Germany)

Anyone who’s anyone attended the grand opening of the new Bodenseeforum in Constance at the end of October, including Günther Oettinger, the EU Commissioner for Digital Economy and Society – and former Prime Minister of Baden-Württemberg – who was also the keynote speaker. The modern white building not only serves as the new headquarters of the Lake Constance Chamber of Industry and Commerce, but also acts as a venue for congresses and other events – offering a conference and exhibition area of around 2000 square metres.

The Forum’s centrepiece is its main hall, which can accommodate up to 1000 conference delegates as well as being divided into smaller modular areas, as and when required, with the use of partition walls. Due to the continuously changing room sizes, it was decided during the planning stages that large line arrays and fixed ceiling installations were best avoided. Instead, the search for mobile solutions began – solutions that would enable effective sound coverage regardless of the room’s size and partitioning.

The result - Fohhn Linea Focus: The slim elegant design of these line arrays makes them visually unobtrusive. At the same time, thanks to their integrated Beam Steering Technology, the speakers can offer all the necessary flexibility for precision coverage of both a completely open room and individual modular areas. Depending on the particular requirement, any of the following loudspeaker combinations can be used in the Bodenseeforum as a main PA system: up to six freestanding LF-220 systems (on tripod stands, combined with XS-30 active subwoofers) or up to four LF-350 systems (on XS-4 subwoofers). The latter have a special construction for stand-alone mounting. For additional nearfield coverage, the systems can be extended with the use of XT-1 passive loudspeakers.

In the building’s smaller conference rooms, two Arc AT-10 passive loudspeakers have been permanently installed in each of the respective rooms.

Congratulations to both Ingenieurbüro dreischichtbetrieb and Praxl Licht- & Tontechnik GmbH on this successful project.
