Our motivation
There are currently tens of thousands of protective masks missing in Germany that are urgently needed in hospitals, emergency services and other organizations. The newly developed face shields protect the entire face including eyes – which is an important area in order to prevent an infection with the Corona Virus. Two members of the Fohhn team decided to take action. They are using their "Open DIY Projects" platform in order call upon their 3D printing community to produce these FaceShields on their own and send them in. They are also networking producers and help delivering the community-printed face shields to NGOs in the entire region.
How is Fohhn involved?
All 3D printers in our production department are running 24/7 and currently produce FaceShields. Usually these printers produce components for loudspeaker prototypes. Additionally, other companies have even brought us their 3D printers. Fohhn also supports the communication and organization of the project.
Why so many can help now
This message is very important for us to get out: Anyone who has a 3D printer at home or in their company can join this project! The printing model can be downloaded and simply printed out in 2-3 hours. Let us use the difficult time where many are isolated and/or in quarantine to do something really important.
